NFL teams can use three stipulations to opt-out of the running for Hard Knocks, the league’s HBO show that follows a team (or two teams) through training cmap. Those stipulations are (1) having a new head coach, (2) reaching the playoffs within the last two years and (3) appearing on the show within the last 10 seasons.

The Denver Broncos do not have a new coach, they haven’t reached the playoffs since 2015 and they have never been featured on Hard Knocks, although NFL Films has approached them in the past. That means the Broncos are eligible to be forced into Hard Knocks this summer.

In addition to the Broncos, the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals are also eligible to be forced into the show. Other teams are allowed to volunteer for Hard Knocks and the Jacksonville Jaguars have shown a willingness to feature on the show in past years.

NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus has predicted the Jags will be featured this year and that seems like a safe bet. Jacksonville will have plenty of storylines to follow with new coach Urban Meyer and presumed No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence drawing plenty of attention this offseason.
