Cowboy Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Match Against Ole Miss - Oklahoma State Athletics

Stillwater, Okla. - For the second consecutive match, the 24th-ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team came out on the short end of a 4-3 match, falling against 18th-ranked Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon inside the Greenwood Tennis Center. 

The Cowboys fell to 6-5 overall on the year and 5-3 at home.

OSU didn't waste any time in doubles play, snagging the point and running with it. Court one was the first to finish, Matej Vocel and Henrik Korsgaard dropped their matchup to No. 7 Finn Reynolds and Tim Sandkaulen 6-2. Emile Hudd and Dominik Kellovsky cruised to a 6-4 victory on court two over Ole Miss Brady Draheim and Simon Junk. Court three featured the duo of Mathieu Scaglia and Etienne Donnet slated against Jakob Cadonau and Jan Soren Hain. While going into a tiebreaker, Scaglia and Donnet secured a critical 7-6(5) win, putting the Pokes on the board 1-0.  

In singles action, court four was the first to finish with Mathieu Scaglia falling to John Hallquist Lithen, 6-1, 6-2, putting a point on the board for Ole Miss 1-1.

No. 49 Matej Vocel led the pack in singles play against No. 62 Tim Sandkaulen. Vocel secured the first set on court one, 6-3. Vocel kept the momentum in the second set over Sandkaulen, 6-2, to secure another point for the Cowboys 2-1.

Ole Miss was next to take court two. Henrik Korsgaard fell to Rebel Finn Reynolds in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Etienne Donnet and Simon Junk followed next on court six with an Ole Miss rally securing a 6-4, 6-3 victory. The Rebels took a 3-2 lead over the Pokes. 

Dominik Kellovsky and Lukas Engelhardt were evenly matched on court five. While both tallied wins in the first and second sets 7-6, 4-6, Kellovsky knew how to win a dogfight. Although down in the majority of the third set, Kellovsky had a thrilling rally for the Cowboys securing a 7-5 win for the Pokes tying up the match 3-3 overall.

The match came down to court three with the contest of Emile Hudd and Nikola Slavic. The first set went the way of OSU in a tiebreaker win for Hudd, 7-6(7). Slavic fought back to secure a second set win for the Rebels, 6-4. After a battle throughout the third, the duo entered a tiebreaker for the second time on the day. Slavic came out on top 7-6(3) in the third set to win it for the Rebels. 

Next up, OSU is back on the road for an in-state battle at Tulsa on March 25.
