Academy product Sam Pearson reflected on a “good result” as City held Nottingham Forest to a 0-0 draw on his full debut.

Pearson made his first City start and played 72 minutes as the Robins brought their losing run at home to an end.

The 19-year-old explained the message heading into this fixture was to be “hard to beat” and he was impressed by his side’s display.

“I think it’s a good result and the losing streak is over,” Pearson told Robins TV. “We’ve shown if we dig deep we can get a result at home. The important thing was not to lose and we did that.

“It’s good to put it behind us ready for Sheffield Wednesday next week. I think the message going into it was to be hard to beat. We were nice and compact playing 4-4-2 at the start and we showed we were hard to beat. The boys were good today and hopefully we can take this on to next week.”

It was not only a point and a clean sheet in the bag, but a day to remember on a personal note for the Wales Under-21 international, with the Academy graduate earning his first club start.

He added: “Yes it’s a great moment for me and my family. I want to say thank you to the gaffer for putting his trust in me to start, but yes I’m buzzing.”

City’s next game is at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, April 17th, live on Robins TV.

The scheduled 3pm kick-off will be changed as a mark of respect to avoid a clash with the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. A new kick-off time will be advised.
