MCKINNEY, Texas — Rain has pounded players and spectators at the AT&T Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch, but according to local weather forecasts, the storm should blow through and allow play to finish.

K.H. Lee has a lead over Patton Kizzire, Seamus Power, Sam Burns and others on the final day. Play started early today due to the expected storm, so even a delay could allow the round to be finished at a reasonable time in the afternoon.

A line of storms is pelting much of North Texas at this hour, but Weather.com radar shows a single line that should pass.

The chance for rain in the early afternoon drops to 17 percent, so unless the course becomes unplayable, the round should be finished on Sunday.

The Tour announced midway through Saturday’s third round that players would go off in threesomes off Nos. 1 and 10.

The forecast shook up plans so much that CBS Sports’ final-round coverage is being streamed live from 12-3 p.m. ET on the websites for CBS Sports and the PGA Tour. CBS is scheduled to show final-round replay coverage from 3 to 6 p.m. Golf Channel had the live TV coverage Sunday morning.

UPDATE (12:14 p.m. CT): The rains subsided — or perhaps slowed — around noon, but it’s coming down hard again here right now. We’ve yet to suffer from a stoppage. It’s picked up ever since CBS’ Andrew Catalon said we’ve been lucky enough to avoid any delays. Ha.

UPDATE (1:02 p.m. CT): A really steady rain is making it difficult to walk around the grounds. Hard to believe they’re still playing through this.

UPDATE (1:32 p.m. CT): We had our first “heavy stuff might not come down for a while now” reference on the broadcast, and it’s apropos. The rain is sheeting, but with just a few holes to play, it appears they’re going to play through and finish.

UPDATE (1:55 p.m. CT): Just as it appeared we might squeeze this in, thunder and lightning shook players (and patrons) at TPC Craig Ranch, and within a few seconds the horns went off. We’re now in a delay.

UPDATE (2:10 p.m. CT): Thunder continues to rumble around the grounds here in McKinney, so it’s going to be a bit, but the good news is the forecast eases up as the day progressed, meaning we are likely to finish today. As of no, Weather.com says the probability of rain drops to 20 percent at 4 p.m. and all the way to 16 percent at 7 p.m. Now here’s the bigger question — will the course be OK? Players already needed help from maintenance staff to squeegee the greens and that was before a delay that saw more rainfall.

UPDATE (2:54 p.m. CT): The media members have all started to slide out into the rain to have some fun, but the videos and photos illustrate how difficult this will be to finish in. Thankfully, they’ve been playing with lift, clean and place all day. Here’s a video from NBC’s Kira Dixon, who was standing next to me alongside the 18th fairway.

UPDATE (3:35 p.m. CT): The rain has stopped, but the squeegees are out in full force. With considerable water on each of the final two holes, this will take a little work to clear. According to officials, we’ll be up and running by 4:15 p.m. local time, but it’s going to take some serious work to get this course playable again.

UPDATE (4:15 p.m. CT): Give the grounds crew on-site plenty of credit — not only are we playing again, but the course is in good condition considering all the water.
