The Denver Broncos won’t be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series this summer. NFL Films picked the Dallas Cowboys over the Broncos.

The Broncos have been approached by NFL Films in the past about volunteering for “Hard Knocks” but the team has politely declined. This year, Denver was among five teams who were eligible to be forced into being featured on the show.

The Broncos filmed an in-house production this spring that resembled “Hard Knocks,” a docuseries called “Behind the Broncos.”

This summer will mark the third time Dallas has been featured on the show. The Cowboys are known as “American’s Team,” but Denver would have been an intruding candidate for “Hard Knocks.”

The Broncos have plenty of summer storylines for fans to follow, including a quarterback competition between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater. Denver will also have big competitions at wide receiver, a crowded cornerback room, a center competition, a running back rotation and other position battles.

The Broncos also have ownership uncertainty, passionate fans, and a playoff drought that dates back to 2015. There’s plenty of drama in Denver, but HBO seems to believe the Cowboys are a more intriguing team.
