WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The Hartford volleyball team was unable to hold on to an early lead, as it dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting UAlbany on Sunday. Freshman Camryn Luginbuhl posted her third double-double in as many matches to pace the Hawks, who saw late comeback bids come up short in the second and fourth sets.

Hartford (3-14) falls to 1-3 in America East action, while UAlbany, which hit .288 as a team, (7-12) improves its league record to 3-2.

SET ONE: HARTFORD 25, UALBANY 23
UAlbany spoiled an early Hartford lead with a 5-0 run to take a 17-14 advantage. The Hawks clawed their way back into the game, though, as they stormed back from a 22-19 deficit and tied things up at 22-all, on a kill from freshman Sophie Paspal and back-to-back blocks that included combined efforts from Diede and junior Maddie Lindsay. The Great Danes would take a 23-22 edge on a kill from Malea Stanton, but Hartford finished strong with Lindsay and Luginbuhl contributing kills to a set ending 3-0 run.

SET TWO: UALBANY 25, HARTFORD 20
UAlbany rallied earlier to break open a 4-4 deadlock and take a 10-4 advantage. The Great Danes continued to roll, as they pushed ahead by as many as 11, at 19-8. The Hawks would not go down easy, though, despite the double-digit deficit. Trailing by a 23-10 count, Hartford put together an impressive rally, scoring 10 of the next 11 points, including seven-straight points, to pull with four at 24-10. Hartford's comeback bid ran out of steam, however, as UAlbany took the set by a 25-20 final.

SET THREE: UALBANY 25, HARTFORD 15
The Great Danes jumped out to a 7-3 lead, forcing the Hawks to play from behind. Hartford managed to tie the game up at 9-9 behind the strength of a 6-2 rally, but UAlbany responded. Scoring seven unanswered points to push ahead, 16-9, the Great Danes never looked back and went on to take the 2-1 edge in the match.

SET FOUR: UALBANY 25, HARTFORD 22
The Hawks and Great Danes exchanged blows in the fourth set. With neither side gaining more than a two-point edge, the teams played to an 18-18 deadlock late in the set. Breaking the tie with a 4-0 lead to take its largest lead of the stanza at 22-18, UAlbany led, 24-22. The Hawks had one final comeback in them, as they slashed the deficit in half at 24-22 on a Great Danes' attacking error and a kill from sophomore Kaleigh Fitzgerald, but a Hartford service error allowed UAlbany to clinch the match.
