TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Looking to rebound after Saturday's loss, Alabama volleyball won the opening set against Arkansas Sunday but the Razorbacks bounced back to take the next three and the match, 3-1.

For the second match in a row, Alabama (10-16, 2-12 SEC) won the opening set by a score of 25-21 but Arkansas (17-6, 8-4 SEC) soon evened the match with a 25-17 win in the second set. Sets three and four each came down to the wire, with a late push by the visitors giving them the edge in a pair of 25-20 victories.

Freshman Laila Smith set a new season-high with nine kills, hitting .389 out of the middle, while Kendyl Reaugh was one shy of her own mark, finishing with a team-leading 15 and a .438 hitting percentage. Brooke Slusser totaled 42 assists, her second-highest mark of the season, while Dru Kuck (19) and Katie Shook (11) both finished with double-digit digs.

Arkansas jumped ahead to an early 10-6 lead, but Alabama responded with five unanswered to take an 11-10 lead. After seven tie scores to make it 17-17, the Tide started to pull away with a 4-0 run to lead 21-17. Alabama reached set point at 24-19 but had to take a timeout after the Razorbacks scored back-to-back points to draw within three. A kill from Kendyl Reaugh on the next rally ended it at 25-21.

The Tide scored the first point of the second set but the Razorbacks followed with four in a row and maintained the lead all the way to the media timeout, 15-9. Alabama scored three out of the break to cut the deficit in half but Arkansas eventually stretched its lead back out to six and won, 25-17, to even the match at 1-1.

The Tide burned an early timeout in the third after the Razorbacks jumped ahead 5-1. Alabama would draw as close as two points multiple times, including 22-20 late before Arkansas closed out the frame with three in a row to win 25-20 and take a 2-1 match lead. Neither team led by more than three points in the fourth set until set point for the Razorbacks, 24-20, with the visitors clinching the victory on the next point, 25-20.
