The Atlanta Hawks are looking to make some roster adjustments over the offseason. They are looking to make enough changes to get them back to the top of the Eastern Conference but they are not looking to blow up the roster around Trae Young.
To this end, the team needs to upgrade a number of positions and this is not just a case of pure talent. They also need a Solomon Hill-type player who can play multiple roles and still have an impact on the game, despite not averaging many points, assists, or rebounds.
To this end, they need to get some veteran talent in who have been around the league for a while so they understand the grind of the NBA. To this end, the Hawks should take a look at JaMychal Green who Sam Presti recently said he could not see being with the OKC Thunder when the season started.
The Atlanta Hawks could use the toughness that JaMychal Green brings
Green has been in the league for eight seasons and appeared in 487 games. He originally played for the San Antonio Spurs before he was waived. He then signed multiple 10-day contracts with the Memphis Grizzlies which is where he made his mark in the NBA.
He was then traded to the LA Clippers where he played for almost two seasons. He then signed on with the Denver Nuggets where he played solid basketball for two seasons. He was then traded to the OKC Thunder prior to the draft for the 30th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft.
What this all tells us is that Green has been in a large number of systems and has succeeded. He is happy with what the offense provides. which will help the team, to this end Green has developed his 3-point shooting over his career. He is also a gritty defender who will work well with defensive leader Clint Capela, while also being a tremendous benefit for the Hawks’ second unit.
It should not take a huge amount to get Green to the franchise, he did not cost the Thunder much. His grit and determination will help the Hawks move back up the standings.
