FOUKE - Parkers Chapel’s senior girls improved to 9-3 on the season on Thursday after a hard-fought 56-46 win at Fouke. The Jr. Lady Trojans beat Fouke 39-37 in double overtime.
Kallie Martin scored 20 points in the senior high game. Bella Frisby and Makenzie Morgan each scored 11 with Grace Rainwater and Krista Rivers adding eight and six, respectively.
The Lady Panthers led 14-11 after one quarter. Parkers Chapel rallied to take a 26-23 lead at the half and outscored Fouke 18-12 in the third quarter.
Kendall Haworth scored 11 for the Lady Panthers.
In the junior girls game, Lilah Welch scored 17 points to lead the Lady Trojans with Lorali Barnes adding 16. Kinley Smith scored 19 for Fouke.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am of both of my teams, junior high and senior high,” said PC coach Justin Welch. “I knew going over there that it was going to be a dog fight and a good opportunity for both groups to measure our progression so far this season.
“Fouke has a really good girls’ program over there. According to their coach, both of his groups were undefeated before our games. These girls just proved what I’ve known for years, that we have some of the toughest girls in this part of the state here at Parkers Chapel.
“We had girls with black eyes, bruises, sprained ankles and hurt knees but they just kept going back in. I couldn’t keep them out of there, and as a coach, I couldn’t ask for more from them.
“Meanwhile, Fouke was on the other side wholesale subbing, 5-in-5 out, every 3-4 minutes the whole game, and my girls never let up. In fact, we turned up our effort. It really is amazing to coach these girls.”
