A lot of HBO's "Hard Knocks In Season" that followed around the Arizona Cardinals during the regular season has centered around former Texans star J.J. Watt, especially since he announced he was retiring.

In the season finale, which airs Wednesday night, the producers aim right for the viewers' hearts by showing the future Hall of Famer crying in a meeting room while watching a video of his family and other NFL stars congratulating him on the end of his 12-year career.

In a meeting the day before the Cardinals' season finale, defensive coordinator Vance Joseph introduces the video by saying, "You're going to love this, I hope."

Watt started crying immediately when he saw his brother T.J. Watt open the video.

"Brother, J, I just want to say congratulations on retirement," said T.J., the Steelers star who was the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. "You and your resiliency throughout all the ups and downs, you ending up in in the NFL and you being NFL Defensive Player of the Year and having all the success that you had, showed me that it’s possible."

The video also included well wishes from other stars around the league, including Aaron Rodgers, Dak Prescott, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, who said, "Man, you were a pain in my (butt) for a long time. It was an honor to share the field with you."

Watt's parents John and Connie and brother Derek, who plays fullback for the Steelers, also were included in the video, but the biggest tug on the heartstrings was saved for the end with his wife Kealia holding their two-month old son Koa, who is wearing a tiny Watt jersey.

"It has been such an honor to watch you work your (butt) off these past years and do whatever you needed to do to be the best," Kealia said. "You have always been so generous and kind and loving to everybody around you, and you never forgot who you are. I know Koa will be so proud to be your son."

Watt posted the video on Instagram on Wednesday, calling it, "Truly one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received. Will cherish it forever."

Watt, who played 10 seasons in Houston before signing with Arizona as a free agent in 2021, was a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and a five-time All-Pro selection with the Texans, who drafted him in the first round in 2011. He also was named the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2017 for his work in Houston after Hurricane Harvey. Originally expecting to raise $200,000, his foundation raised more than $41.6 million to distribute to those impacted by the storm.

The 33-year-old finished his career with 114.5 sacks, including 12.5 in his final season. He had 101 sacks for the Texans.
