Former President Donald Trump sounded off against the “sleazebags, lowlifes and grifters” making accusations against him in the “hush money” trial on Wednesday, saying that “it is hard to sit back and listen” but that retaliating could land him in “prison.”
The fierce words from the ex-commander in chief comes after former porn star Stormy Daniels testified Tuesday about their alleged affair, where she went into raunchy details about spanking him with a magazine and having sex in the “missionary position.”
“It is a really bad feeling to have your Constitutional Right to Free Speech, such a big part of life in our Country, so unfairly taken from you, especially when all of the sleazebags, lowlifes, and grifters that you oppose are allowed to say absolutely anything that they want,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“It is hard to sit back and listen to lies and false statements be made against you knowing that if you respond, even in the most modest fashion, you are told by a Corrupt and Highly Conflicted Judge that you will be PUT IN PRISON, maybe for a long period of time,” the 77-year-old added.
“This Fascist mindset is all coming from D.C. It is a sophisticated hit job on Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, ME!. Judges Engoron and Kaplan, also of New York, are equally Corrupt, only in different ways,” he continued. “What these THUGS are doing is AN ATTACK ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, AND OUR ONCE GREAT NATION ITSELF. OUR FIRST AMENDMENT MUST STAND, FREE AND STRONG. “GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!’”
His campaign also tore into Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, in a fundraising email sent out Wednesday.
“That filthy judge wants me ripped to shreds!” Trump’s team wrote.
“These depraved savages won’t stop until my family is DESTROYED and the MAGA movement is RIPPED TO SHREDS,” the email adds, with a button saying “demand a mistrial.”
“But as long as I have YOU by my side, not even their weaponized courts can take me down!”
The former president’s lawyers attempted to argue a mistrial Tuesday after Daniels’ testimony, arguing the prosecution went too far in what questions they asked her during her testimony, but the judge ruled out the possibility.
Trump didn’t react and didn’t make eye contact with Daniels during the trial, but the latest email mentioning his “family” may be an indicator her claims went too far.
Merchan has already fined the 45th president $1,000 and has warned him that he could throw him in jail if he continues to violate his gag order, which includes speaking about jurors, witnesses and family of court staff and prosecutors — but doesn’t include Merchan himself.
Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records relating to his alleged one-night stand with Daniels.
He is accused of directing his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to pay the adult film star $130,000 to silence her story before the 2016 election.
Trump has repeatedly blasted the case and has claimed he is not guilty.
“So this was a very big day, a very revealing day as you see their case is totally falling apart,” he told reporters Tuesday outside of the NYC courtroom.
