Triangle Strategy: Hard Mode Battle Strategies - TheGamer

hard.indah.link

Released earlier this March, Triangle Strategy is a tactical RPG reminiscent of games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre, bringing a lot to appreciate to the table. In addition to the branching paths and decisions the game is known for, Triangle Strategy features impressive and fleshed-out tactical gameplay that offers a solid challenge and respects a player's intelligence and skill without being overbearing.

However, for those looking for a more challenging difficulty, the game's hard mode can be quite arduous, testing the mettle of the most invested tactical RPG veterans. As this difficulty may catch the unprepared off guard, these are tips that will help you make your way through Triangle Strategy's Hard Mode.

Play Defensively

Allowing enemies to come to you rather than advancing forward allows for groups of foes to be handled in a much more manageable fashion. When advancing, especially with a single unit, one runs the risk of a single unit being quickly overwhelmed by the highly-damaging enemies of Hard Mode.

Additionally, while some chapters may allow a player to split their deployed units within two different zones, it is highly recommended to keep your units together, as doing so allows situations to be more easily adapted to, units to be healed, and enemies to be more surrounded.

Make The Most Out Of Quietus

Quietus Triangle Strategy

One of the primary draws of gaining Kudos in Triangle Strategy is the ability to spend them on various Quietuses. While a player has access to a finite number of Quietus Points that may be used in each chapter, once a Quietus option has been purchased with Kudos, it can be accessed for the rest of the game. It's key to make use out of every asset at your disposal in Hard Mode and take every advantage you can gain, especially as some Quietus options are quite powerful.

While the Rejuvenate Quietus can be used to revive a fallen ally, the In Tandem option is not only affordable, but it can allow a unit to effectively double its damage output and utility within a turn.

Hughette And Blinding Arrow

Hughette Triangle Strategy

Automatically available from Chapter Two onward, Hughette is a hawk-mounted archer who is easily among the most integral units to use in Hard Mode. As enemy units deal additional damage and are harder to take down in Hard Mode, being able to safely attack foes from a range is key to mitigating the damage your units will sustain.

In addition to being able to evade melee-locked foes from high altitudes and deal additional height-based damage, Hughette has access to the Blinding Arrow ability. While this action may deal less damage than a normal attack, it has a high chance of blinding a target for three turns. Once blinded, an enemy unit will have a significantly lower chance of hitting your units, greatly improving your chance of survival.

When outnumbered and dealing with a high quantity of enemy units, prioritizing blinding one's foes can make otherwise dangerous enemies much more manageable. Additionally, as Blinding Arrow only costs a single TP to use, it can hypothetically be used on every turn of combat.

Once leveled up a little, Hughette also gets Shadowstitching Arrow. This skill inflicts Immobilize, rooting an enemy to the spot - this is fantastic for taking melee units out of the battle for a few turns while you deal with the rest.

Serenoa And Delaying Strike

Triangle Strategy Cast

The protagonist of Triangle Strategy available from the word go, Serenoa is a highly offensive melee damage dealer capable of taking a hit. While Serenoa's damage output and durability make him a solid asset, one of this character's primary appeals in Hard Mode is his access to Delaying Strike. An immediately available ability that players should make use of as early as Chapter One, Delaying Strike pushes back the target's turn later within the turn order.

While the enemies within hard mode are stronger than those a player would deal with in other difficulties, a key target will be much more manageable to deal with if a player is able to prevent them from attacking in the first place, delaying their turn and taking them out before they can act.

Medina Is Your Friend

Medina-Triangle-Strategy-1

Available to players with 500 Morality and 400 Liberty, Medina is without question the best healer in Triangle Strategy and debatably one of the best units in the entire game. A unit based around the use of healing items, not only can Medina use healing items on allied units from afar, but she improves the amount of HP they replenish.

While this allows her to reliably heal at least one unit each turn regardless of if she has access to TP, at the cost of three TP, Medina is capable of using two items in a single turn, improving her already serviceable healing. Medina is a great healer within the early game, and upon gaining the TP Physick, the value she provides is absurdly useful, especially in hard mode. TP Physick is a passive that improves Medina's healing - whenever she heals an ally, they also gain one TP. When paired with her ability to use two items within a single turn, she is able to provide up to 10 TP to one's units within a single turn with clever use of Ranged HP Recovery Pellets, allowing you to constantly use your key units' best moves.
